About University

Mari State University is considered to be a classical university of Mari El Republic. The University was founded in the year 1972. The University is the member of the Volga Region’s Association of classical universities, a member of the Russian Association of Classical Universities and the establisher of the Association of Finno-Ugric Universities. This University is one of the most influential and effective multi-field universities of the Volga Federal District and Russia. Mari State University plays a significant role in the socio-economic, political and spiritual development of the country on a whole.

There is an effective feedback system within the University that helps the staff in getting feedbacks and opinions from the students which further add up in the decision making. Mari State University has the panel of trained qualified specialists. There are 55 areas and 3 specialities in which the education is carried out. Over 8,000 students study at this University. In the halls of residence, there lived 2,500 students.

The University campus has 8 halls of residence, and 7 educational buildings. The total area of this University is 128,000 square meters. There is a staff of about 100 doctors of sciences and professors and 400 candidates of sciences and associate lecturers.

Faculties

In Mari University, there are 6 faculties and 5 institutions. The primary aim of the University is to prepare well-educated professionals for most sectors of the Russian National Economy. International Association of Figo-Ugric Association has this University as one of the five founder members. Also, the University is one of the forty one members of Russia’s Association of Classical Universities.

In this University, the students have ample of options to do. There are scientific communities, Interest clubs, sports schools, volunteering charity work, public work, cultural events and much more. Each faculty consists of student scientific societies. This offers participation in the youth forums, seminars, and conferences on the city, Republican, regional, national, and international levels. There are various resources for physical activities such as mini-football field, track and field complex, two sandy courts for beach football, Asphalt court for team sports, gyms, fitness rooms, two exercise rooms for aerobics and a shooting range as well as indoor courts for playing basketball, and volleyball.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ADMISSION

For admission application (written in Russian) to the University a foreign citizen or a stateless person presents the following documents:

1) the copy of the identity document – ID (passport)

2) the original (or its copy certified as required) of the nationally recognized educational certificateor the original (or its certified copy) of the recognized in the territory of the Russian Federation document of the foreign country on the educational and/or qualification level which is similar to the Russian ones and gives the same academic and/or professional rights in Russia to its owner, with the certification of recognition in the territory of the Russian Federation of the educational and/or qualification document issued in a foreign country and mark sheet/transcript (in case it is legally provided).

3) the legalized translation of the provided documents mentioned above (educational certificate and transcript/mark sheet) into the Russian language

4) the migration card or the notification of migration registration

5) copy and original of the entry visa to the Russian Federation

6) HIV/AIDS free certificate issued not before than 3 months of admission application

7) 4 photos

All translations should be made on the full name indicated in the entry visa (or national ID in case of visa-free regime).
